celebrated it's "National Day" as we call it in Norway. Tradition is to dress up in different types of
"bunad", which is the Norwegian national suite, and march around your
hometown. You could call it a sort of parade, not that exciting compared to Rio

big on tradition so we decided to pack our back packs, put on our walking shoes
and celebrate in our own way. We enjoyed a long walk starting from
Hellvik, walked a little over half way to Egersund and back again. The view was
gorgeous as usual and the weather was close to perfect apart from a few rain showers :)</strong></span></span></div>

The landscape reminds me of where I imagine trolls would live. Marsh lands with rolling hills and deep lakes left from the last glacier. Sheep on the hillside, the great views you get from the different tops and of course the bonus is a good workout since you are either going up or down, for the most anyway. </strong></span></span><br />

<span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span></span><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>Mom and I did a part
of this hike just a couple weeks ago, but we wanted to do the whole round this
time when the weather was so nice and the ground had gotten a chance to dry out
a bit. Parts of the trail go through wet spots so chances are you’ll get really
muddy if it has been raining a lot. We got an early morning start and were out
hiking for about 2 hours. The whole round is about 8 km (5 miles). We stopped
at the last top to relax in the sun, get a much needed drink of water and eat som fruit we brought with us. The view was gorgeous
as always, but extra special today because the fog hanging over the ocean was
making a shiny silver strip in the horizon. Since we live right by the ocean it
was very nice to get up in the high country where the sun was shining. <o:p></o:p></strong></span></span><br />

beautiful! Once the sun managed to chase the fog away it started to warm up and
there was no wind, which is very unusual for this part of Norway. It really
felt like spring today.</strong></span></span><span><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong> I walked from
Brusand to Ogna and back again along the coast. The rout is one of my favorites
because in includes walking on the beach, in the sand dunes, climbing mountains
and not to mention the never ending gorgeous view. Doggy’s were with me as usual and although they got a little
hot in the sun their energy was up and they really enjoyed their walk. They went crazy on the beach and had lots of fun running through the shallow water in one of the creaks. It's like the cold water gives them a kick! Very entertaining :)</strong></span></span><br />

in the high county yesterday. The sun actually showed its face after being

last year I noticed our oldest dog Blanca (now 8) wasn’t feeling to good. I
couldn’t quite put my finger on what the problem was though. To be quite honest
I had been noticing her lack of energy and usual spiff for a while and voiced
my suspicions about her not being her happy, healthy, usual self. I suggested having
a vet look at her, but no one seemed to hear me or take my concerns seriously.
Since Blanca isn’t my dog I didn’t push the matter like I should have.<o:p></o:p></strong></span></span><br />

paying too much attention to either Blanca or Itza’s teeth. We just never thought it necessary... <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And it turned out that they were infact both dealing with tooth problems. Especially Blanca! One thing I had also notices was Blanca’s
BAD breath. I thought it was because she’s a dog and doggys do have doggy breath. That
was not the case, tartar was the reason. Have you ever seen a dog that had very
yellow'ish or even black teeth at the top where the tooth meets the gum? Well that’s tartar buildup and it can lead to
increased gum disease, inflamation of the gums and, ultimately, to tooth loss! When I finally realized I
should take a look at Blanca’s teeth I was disgusted, shocked, saddened, and
very angry, to the point of almost being furious, at both myself and the rest my family for overlooking this issue! She must have been
in so much pain, poor thing! Her gums were terribly inflamed and some of her teeth were
even starting to loosen. I called the vet that same day and got an appointment
for the next day to have her teeth looked at. We were worried sick because we read
on the internet that this problem could lead to blood poisoning if it had
gotten way to out of hand. In Blancas case we were not sure what to expect. <o:p></o:p></strong></span></span></div>

<span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">At the vets the day
after I could tell she wasn’t pleased to see the shape Blanca’s teeth and gums were in. Although she isn’t my dog I felt very ashamed. The results were that Blanca lost
3 of her front teeth and had to go on an antibiotic cure for 16 days to get rid of the
bacterial infection and inflamation in her gums. My dog Itza also had inflamed gums, without me even being aware of it, so she also got her teeth cleaned and an antibiotic cure that lasted 8 days. Luckily she didn’t have to give up any of her teeth!</span></span></strong><br />

been avoided with the proper dental care. Some dogs manage fine their whole
lives without. Other dogs, especially smaller breeds, need to have their teeth
checked on more frequently and require that the owner also does what needs to be done to prevent these problems.</strong> <o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<strong><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Old dogs that have had
tooth problems over a longer period tend to get very grumpy and snappish! I
would to it it were me in that situation! So if your dog is grumpy, not feeling good or not acting like its
usual self it could be a good idea to have its teeth checked. Dogs with healthy

a half a year now since I decided to go strictly pescetarian, meaning I do not eat meat except for fish and seafood. I’d like to explain why I came

with the thought of eating them. And I didn’t want to support an industry that’s
based on inhuman treatment of millions of animals every year just for the benefit of chewing
on something tasty... when it really isn’t necessary.<o:p></o:p></span></strong></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong><u><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Reason 2:</span></u><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> I did some research and became more knowledgeable
about how negatively the meat (and dairy) industry affects our environment. One
large pig farm in the US with a million pigs produces the same amount of waste
as the city Los Angeles… In ONE day!! That’s only one farm, but it’s A LOT of waste! It's hard to believe, but it's true.</span></strong></span><br />
<strong><br /></strong><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong><u><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Reason 3:</span></u><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> I don’t feel good about eating meat because I
know how much resources and energy go into producing it. Resources, like grain
for instance, could have been used to feed hungry mouths elsewhere, instead it
is used to produce meat for people who really don’t need it. (Need and want is
not the same thing) 1 kg meat = 8 kg of grain! And a lot of good could have been done with that grain! </span></strong></span><br />
<strong><br /></strong><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong><u><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Reason 4:</span></u><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> My own health and the animal’s health! In my
opinion some of the worst aspects about eating meat are the hormones and antibiotics.
And frankly it doesn’t come as a surprise to me that the animals need
antibiotics after having witnessed their living conditions. I remember driving
past a huge cattle farm in Iowa once while visiting family there. The animals
were and probably still are up to their knees in their own feces. We could
smell the place before we saw it! So basically they live their whole,
miserable, short lives in a muck hole almost on top of each other for the lack
of space, and some of them were noticeably injured and were limping. A
considerable amount of their food consists of garbage, which the stores can’t
sell because it has gone out on date! I mean it, I saw their “food” with my own
eyes and we’re talking candy that hasn’t even been unwrapped! So they are chowing down
candy wrappers… that’s just great! Shocking to say the least, and I still find
myself confused about why this sort of production is even legal. Anyway I
decided never to eat a burger again after that experience, unless it was a
vegetarian burger, and to think twice before ordering a steak. I started asking where the meat came from before ordering... I mean the restaurants should know where their products come from, right? Yeah, trust me that was not always the case and that is BAD. There’s also the
fact that meat contains unhealthy fats, more or less, that may lead to a variety of health
problems. <o:p></o:p></span></strong></span><br />

have just taken it for granted that we are supposed to eat animals and that it's okay. I

mom and I had to make the most of it so we trailed out horses to and old
carriage road that goes from Ogna to Hellvik (location south west coast of
Norway) During the old days the road was actually used mostly by people traveling
by horse, either riding or in a carriage. Today people use the road mainly for

scared off by the long list of ingredients. You don’t necessarily have to use
all of them. If you want to leave something out that’s not to you liking, go right
ahead. Do be sure though that it all adds up to the same amount if you are
leaving out some ingredients to make the dough. Say if you want to leave out buckwheat
and hemp powder just add the same amount in spelt flour instead.<o:p></o:p></strong></span></span></div>

you want to start with the sauce since that should simmer for at least 45 minutes
to an hour. Dice you onion and sauté it in oil on medium heat for 3-4 minutes.
Add the garlic and stir for another minute or so. Then you add the can of chopped
tomatoes and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Now that you have cooked out some of
the excess liquid in the sauce you add the tomato pure and the freshly chopped
basil and oregano. Let simmer for at least 20 minutes and add a tbsp. balsamic vinegar
if you wish. I think it gives the sauce more taste!<o:p></o:p></strong></span></span><br />

sauce is working it’s own you have lots of time to prep you vegetables and make
your dough ready. Just slice or chop the veggies however you feel like. I like
them sliced, but whatever works for you is good :) If you are using soy protein be sure
to leave them soaking in water for at least 2 hours, depending on the size,
before use.<o:p></o:p></strong></span></span><br />

right consistency. It shouldn’t be sticky but don’t make it to dry and flakey
either. There should be enough dough for 2 small or one large pizza. </strong></span></span></div>

have got you’re dough rolled out I recommend popping it in the oven for a few

about a handful of frozen strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and aroniaberries (also called chokeberries, but to my ears that name makes them sound poisonous ,so I stick with aronia) The goji berries I like to soften in a little water before adding them to the smoothie. Add a small banana and 2 tsp. acaiberry powder. Now
you have already created an antioxidant bomb! But you're not done yet:) </strong></span></span></div>

or Prins as he is called is my 12 year old Nordlandshest/Lyngshest (Norwegian North
country horse) gelding. He’s a gentleman with a big G and always does his best
to please his rider. I use Prins mostly for trail riding. We enjoy long rides
on the beach, in the woods, mountains, or wherever we feel like. Not a big horse but strong and sure footed, he has an iron will and need for speed. This boy does not give up easily which

pretty confident for such a young horse. I believe she'll do good given some time to mature and learn. She is absolutely gorgeous with her special

of the earth, I think :) She’s four years old and about 3 kg (5.5 lbs.) Not a
small Chihuahua but cute as can be. She loves going for long walks, and believe
me I have trouble tiring her out, she can go for hours. Her favorite spot is on
her lamb’s wool pillow or on my lap. She loves watching me cook and keeps me
company in the kitchen, hoping I’ll drop something probably:) Dislikes: clothes, being carried in a dog carrier, not getting her treat and being disturbed while she's tired or sleeping. lazy breakfast on Sundays. Today I made a smoothie and a bowl of oatmeal topped with fresh
fruit and berries. This breakfast is both tasty and healthy without being a lot
of work to make. <o:p></o:p></strong></span></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>I start by
making the smoothie and I always use a base of frozen fruit and berries. Today
I had a mango, pineapple and papaya blend and I mixed in some frozen
raspberries. I also use half a banana (not frozen) which really puts the smooth
in the smoothie. For the liquid feel free to use whatever you want, but know
that citrus juices like orange juice contain a lot of acid and can be hard on
the stomach in the morning. Personally I like using apple juice. Vanilla or
coconut flavored rice milk is also a great choice. Don’t use too much liquid at
once, less is more in this case so be careful to not overdue it! Now I’m into
super food so I can’t leave out that part, but it’s optional! In this smoothie I
added a handful of goji berries and 1 tsp. of: activated barley, acai
powder, maca powder, hemp powder and raw cacao powder. Don’t worry, your
smoothie will be great without, I just like to ad it for extra nutrition. Get
you blender crackin’ and your smoothie will be ready in no time! Pour your
smoothie in a tall glass and decorate with whatever you got. I put some plain Greek
yoghurt, aman prana happy delight oil and chia seeds on mine! <o:p></o:p></strong></span></span></div>

oatmeal I like to use gluten free oats. I’m not allergic or anything but I do
believe gluten is something we should be careful about eating too much of
because of the possibility of developing allergies. I also use either rice milk,
soy milk or almond milk mixed with water. You could use regular milk if you
prefer. I never use measurements when I make oatmeal, but a good rule is to put
as much liquid in that it just covers the oats. Make it as thick and gooey or
as “liquidy” as you prefer. When it’s cooked to the consistency you like just
pour it in a bowl. And then for the best part, the topping. I love fresh fruit
and berries on my oatmeal; you can use whatever you have got handy actually.
Today I had grapes, strawberries and the left over half of the banana from the
smoothie making. I used organic honey from<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">

welcome to my blog Nothing but Everything! Now keeping my blogs to one subject
will be like trying to pin a wave upon the shore… or catching a cloud in your
hand. So the one thing I can promise you is versatile blogging! If you read my
description of myself you’ll get a better idea of what I’m about. As you may
have seen in my interests I like cooking! But like doesn’t sum it up; I love
cooking clean and healthy meals that will give me and my family lots of energy,
vitamins and all the good stuff we need to stay active all day. I have studied
nutrition and I read anything I can come across that may benefit to my health.
Super foods, raw food, vegetarian and organic, it’s all very interesting to me.
I also love nature so if I’m not in the kitchen cooking up a storm I’ll probably
be outside enjoying some fresh air! Being outside walking the dogs by the ocean
or riding my horse wherever I want is such great therapy for a mind working
overtime. It’s something I really enjoy in life; just being alone outside, surrounded
by beautiful nature and listening to what mother earth has to tell me. I do work
out a lot as well, as often as I can actually, so if I’m not in the kitchen or
outside having a conversation with a tree (haha), it’s most likely I’ll be at
the local gym, sweating like a racehorse. I’m into almost everything from
kickboxing to Yoga and I took dance lessons in Jazz, Contemporary and Ballet for
3 years. I’ll be starting on a skincare education in August this years and hope
to become a certified skin therapist/massage therapist by May/June 2013. I like
anything that’s “real”, either its food, people, clothing… Quality before
